Rob, who some of you may remember as the host of 'The Science Of Doctor Who' tour by the BBC, will be performing 7 UK venues for Who, Me:

DWO caught up with Rob for a quick interview:

What is your earliest memory of Doctor Who, and do you have a particular favourite episode of the classic / new series (or both)? 

My earliest memory of Who was after school episodes of the Sylvester McCoy era on our Australian National Broadcasting network (the ABC) when I was in Grade 5/6, so I was roughly 10/11. I distinctly remember Paradise Towers and Survival. 

It wasn’t until University that I had someone sit me down and explain ALL of Doctor Who to me…and I’ve been a fan ever since.

My favourite classic story is Inferno or The Robots of Death.

My favourite modern story is either Dinosaurs on a Spaceship or Oxygen.

You had great success at last year's Edinburgh Fringe Festival; how did you find the audience and would you return again? 

Last year was the second time I’ve performed Who, Me. at the Edinburgh Fringe. I was also there in 2013 for the 50th Anniversary of Who. I adore Edfringe, it is an intense experience and it is an incredible amount of hard work but it all worth it to be playing in the biggest playground (for performers) in the world. You have the opportunity to meet so many different people from around the world and see so many amazing shows. I cannot wait to return to do another one of my shows there.

This year sees you touring the UK - is there a particular leg of your tour that you are looking forward to? What can we expect from Who, Me this year? 

To be honest…and I don’t mean this to be a cop-out but…all of it really! 

I’ve never had the chance to explore England. On this tour we’ve got to cover seven cities in three weeks. So we’re hiring and car and then we will most definitely see a lot of the English landscape. I’m so excited.

Who, Me. is a solo comedy show where I put Doctor Who on trial, to see whether he has been a negative or a positive influence over my life. The audience are the jury and ultimately the fate of The Doctor is in their hands.

Finally, if you could take a round trip in the TARDIS, anywhere in time and space, where would you go and why?

Oh that’s easy... the UK in the 1960s, so I could record all the incomplete stories and missing episode of Doctor Who. Then I would bring them back to modern times and be worshipped as a god!

Doctor Who is about to face his greatest challenge: his number one fan. Rob Lloyd (The Hounds, The Mutant Way, A Study in Scarlet (A Study of...) and Fan Number One) is putting The Doctor on trial.

Not just for Doctor Who fans, it’s a show about obsession and it’s many faces. What have you been obsessed with – a celebrity, a football team, a TV show? For Rob, it’s Doctor Who all the way.  

After sell out seasons at the Melbourne and Adelaide Fringe Festivals, The Melbourne and Perth International Comedy Festivals and a full house for Armageddon Expo 2011 (Australia's Premier Science Fiction Convention) Rob Lloyd will be asking the BIG questions in WHO, ME. Rob will be investigating whether Doctor Who (the television show) is guilty of inciting in him a debilitating obsession, or whether it has shaped him into a well-rounded, mentally-sound member of society.

Since 1996 Rob Lloyd has dedicated himself to amassing as much Doctor Who knowledge, as well as videos, DVDs, novels, audios, action figures and assorted paraphernalia as he can afford. With his replica Jon Pertwee era sonic screwdriver in hand and dressed in his 10th Doctor get up he is ready to jump head first into finding out how and why he got here!

Built up through improvisation and storytelling techniques, this one-man show is a personal and fitting tribute to a television icon. Through the course of the show we will see how one TV program can influence a persons actions, behavior and psyche. You don’t need to be a Doctor Who fan to relate to this show, it speaks to anyone who has known obsession. It’s a hilarious romp across the Doctor’s 49 years, 11 faces and countless adventures.

The Time Traveling Troupe is a serialized improvised comedy series inspired by Doctor Who that follows the adventures of The Traveler, and her two companions, Travis and Tiffany, as they journey throughout time. Where and when they go, and what happens, will be based on three suggestions they receive at the beginning of each show.

Raychel Winstead plays The Traveler and is accompanied by Kyle Brower and Jessi Kyle, playing Travis Hartnell and Tiffany Smith respectively. Each night they will be joined with various talented improvisers to play supporting characters.

The first season will contain 12 episodes with a run of time of approximately 40-minutes each. Episodes will be available to watch for free via YouTube for everyone.

Over the past week, DWO visited central London and the Bluewater shopping centre to film some scenes for our 2011 DWO Christmas video.

The video, which features a poem written and performed by DWO site editor, Sebastian J. Brook, takes a look at a couple of the main Doctor Who related stories from 2011, coupled with festive scenes and a warming Christmassy backing track.
