1940 – it’s the height of the Blitz. A weapon of unknown origin destroys a small corner of Mayfair, and simultaneously opens up a rift in space and time. For decades, UNIT has fought to protect the people of Earth from the dangers it poses, but they’ve been beaten back as the fracture multiplies out of control.

Earth as we know it is at stake – now is the time for you to step up and be the hero. Travelling to impossible places, confronting menacing monsters and ancient aliens along the way, it’s a journey across space and time to save our race, and our beautiful planet.

Featuring an original story arc, Doctor Who: Time Fracture will invite audiences to become immersed in the world of Doctor Who. Placed at the heart of the story, audiences will meet Daleks, Cybermen, Time Lords and many other strange and mysterious characters as they travel across space and time to discover amazingly realised worlds and undertake a mission to save the universe as we know it.

Doctor Who: Time Fracture will allow guests to meet a character from Time Lord Victorious, BBC Studios’ brand new multi-platform Doctor Who story.

Working in close collaboration with BBC Studios, Director Tom Maller (Secret Cinema’s Casino Royale, 28 Days Later, Blade Runner), writer Daniel Dingsdale (Dark Tourism, Stardust, The Drop Off) BBC consultant James Goss (Dirk Gently, Torchwood), Production Designer Rebecca Brower and the creative team at Immersive Everywhere will bring to vivid life the worlds of Doctor Who giving audiences a chance to experience the Doctor’s adventures like never before.

Director, Tom Maller said:

“We are incredibly excited to be at the creative helm of this project. It has been an enjoyable experience already, working with BBC Studios to make sure Doctor Who: Time Fracture not only meets the extremely high expectations of fans, but exceeds them."

Writer Daniel Dingsdale added:

“Drawing from the rich legacy of Doctor Who, which spans over half a century, we are creating an adventure that will entertain both fans that have immersed themselves in the show’s universe for years, and audience members who will walk in from the street having never seen an episode. It’s going to be an absolute blast.”

Louis Hartshorn, joint CEO of Immersive Everywhere said:

“We are delighted to be partnering with BBC Studios to bring the incredible universe of Doctor Who to life in a way that only immersive theatre can. We can’t wait for audiences to step into the world of The Doctor, and find themselves closer to the action than ever before, in this expansive and ambitious new show.

Based on everything we know now, we are confident that Doctor Who: Time Fracture will be able to go ahead as planned in early 2021 and will be taking all necessary precautions to ensure the safety of our audiences and full creative team.”

Doctor Who: Time Fracture will take place whilst adhering to the social distancing guidelines announced by the UK Government this month. Immersive Everywhere will also be operating a no-questions-asked exchange policy where customers who are no longer able to attend can exchange their ticket for an equivalent ticket on an alternative date.

Immersive Everywhere will be offering a free preview performance of Doctor Who: Time Fracture as  special thank you to care workers at the front line of the coronavirus pandemic. Further details to follow.

The Quiz of Rassilon ON TOUR!

Lots more surprises...!

Organiser Richard Unwin said:

“I toured Australia with a play a couple of years back, and fell completely in love with the country. The people, the animals, the scenery - it was simply a joy to exist in such a beautiful land. While I was there the Doctor Who Fan Club of Australia invited me along to be a guest speaker at one of their meetings in Sydney, to discuss my work as an actor with Big Finish. I was flattered and amazed - to receive such a warm and generous welcome whilst so far from home - on the other side of the world! But that’s the Doctor Who community for you - full of warmth and generosity and kindness.

So when I first saw the pictures of that country burning - the place that had stolen my heart, in literal flames - I instantly knew that we could rally the troops of fandom and organise something to help in some small way. And in the past several months I’ve been blown away by the amount of support that we’ve received already. I run a London based group for LGBT Doctor Who fans called The Sisterhood of Karn, and we’ve teamed up with Anthony Townsend of Diva Loka - the Brighton Doctor Who Social Group, Beth Axford of The Time Ladies, and Michael Snooze of The Quiz of Rassilon, to put on a one day fundraiser - G’Day of the Doctor. The legendary London Cabaret venue The Royal Vauxhall tavern have very kindly offered to host our event on the 9th of May - our huge thanks to Dave Cross the events manager there for this generosity.

What’s perhaps unusual about our organising Committee is that we have an actual Doctor Who legend helping to plan and direct. When Katy Manning heard about what we were doing, she not only offered to appear at the event, but also to be a key part of the planning committee - attending meetings and undertaking research and admin. She’s been invaluable!”

Katy Manning said:

“I arrived in Australia in 1982 with two sickly children, two suitcases, and one telephone number. Australia gave my children their health, it gave me friendships across the vast beautiful country, it gave me my partner of 28 years - the legendary  Aussie Barry Crocker CBE. It gave me the opportunity to travel to almost every tiny corner of that diverse island - from the Sydney Opera House to the outer Barcoo and everywhere in between. It gave me the beauty of the Aboriginal people & their dreamtime. It gave me the joys of Banjo Paterson. It gave me mind blowing night skies, exotic flowers, rainforests, deserts, sweeping plains, snowy mountains, blue seas, white sands, and incredible wildlife.

I have seen many fires and floods during my years, but being there during these fires will remain with me for life. Even the most resilient Aussie spirit was momentarily broken, and the wildlife devastated. The firefighters worked tirelessly to quell the fires devouring whole towns, while others worked relentlessly to save the unique wildlife. For this country I love, that gave so much to me and so many, I now want to be part of giving something back during this their time of real need, to help bring back the heart to this extraordinary land.”

Who we are:

We are a collective of Doctor Who fan groups who wanted to channel the power of our fandoms into doing something to aid those affected by the awful bushfires in Australia.

The Sisterhood of Karn - the LGBT+ Doctor Who fan group

Diva Loka - The Brighton Area Doctor Who Social Group

The Time Ladies - A blog by and for women who love Doctor Who

The Quiz of Rassilon - The legendary monthly Doctor Who quiz night

Who we are supporting:

We have decided to split the proceeds of this event 50/50 between animals and humans, and have picked a charity for each. 100% of what we raise will be going to these charities - we are not taking a single penny in fees or commission. Huge thanks to all of our guests who have given their time free of charge. After much deliberation, the charities that we have chosen to support are:

WIRES - NSW Wildlife Information, Rescue and Education Service: https://www.wires.org.au/

BLAZE AID - Helping Communities Rebuild After Natural Disasters: https://blazeaid.com.au/

Tickets and info:

For more information and ticket details, you can find any of our organisations on Twitter, along with a dedicated event account at: @GDAYOFTHEDOCTOR. The Toy Fair 2020 (London) Doctor Who Retrospective

Toy Fair 2020 (London) is upon us; the annual event that showcases some of the merchandise coming out throughout the year. In recent years there has been a steady decline in the volume of Doctor Who related releases, and, unfortunately, this trend continues for 2020.

DWO trawled the many stands finding very little in the way of Time Lord offerings, save a few posters, puzzles and some FUNKO Pop's, we literally couldn't find anything worthy of note.

Thankfully, Character Options - makers of the official Doctor Who action figures, were able to give us a sneak peek at their 2020 range.

Whilst admittedly the range is small, we will be getting the following 5.5" action figures, currently slated for release this February:

- The 13th Doctor (with Bag & Sonic Screwdriver Accessories!)
- Graham O'Brien
- Judoon Captain
- Reconnaissance Dalek (with Dalek Mutant Accessory!)

We also saw Ryan and Yaz action figures, which we expect to be released in due course.

In addition to the above figures there will also be The Thirteenth Doctor Electronic TARDIS, featuring a loyal replica of the on-screen TARDIS with lights, sounds and opening doors. Also on show was the 13th Doctor's Sonic Screwdriver replica, although it was unclear whether this was the same one released last year or an updated model.

Having attended Toy Fair for the past 10 years, it was quite disheartening to see the limited number of Doctor Who related licenses. One can only hope this will change during 2020...

Help Fund The Doctor Who Merchandise Museum!

Over the years there have been a few individuals who have helped formulate the Doctor Who Online you see before you today. One of those people (and we're sure he'd be surprised to learn of this) is Doctor Who fan, author and publisher, David J. Howe. At a Doctor Who Appreciation Society event, back in the early days of our online journey, David gave us some sage advice about cutting our own path and being original with the site. For too long we had followed too closely in the footsteps of Outpost Gallfrey and tried to emulate their style, and it was David who kindly set us on the right path and helped us carve our own direction.

David J. Howe is a name that most Doctor Who fans worth their salt, will know - and those who do not, really should! He has authored and co-authored some of the best factual Doctor Who books in many a fans collection. Titles such as The Sixties, The Seventies, The Eighties - not to mention the Handbooks and the Transcendental Toybox books, have all been a companion to this site, as well as important reference points.

What David doesn't know about Doctor Who merchandise isn't worth knowing, and with the recent news that he plans to open a merchandise museum, showcasing his lifetime's collection, we were incredibly excited. The whole operation needs your help though - the fans! David, and his lovely wife Sam, have started an Indiegogo campaign to raise the £30,000+ needed to open the museum. Fans can help from as little as £1 and there are some truly fantastic perks, ranging from getting a shout out from the man himself, to having Dinner with Chase Masterson or Frazer Hines!

To give you an idea of how popular the campaign has been, its only been live for 48 hours and has already accumulated £2000+ of donations, and we want you to help them smash their target, so please donate whatever you can afford and in the Summer of 2018 we can all be rewarded with an incredibly exciting museum experience!

Event: Bedford Who Charity Con 2 - [23/4/2016] - (10% Off For DWO Visitors)

Bedford’s second charity Doctor Who convention is taking place on Saturday 23rd April – and Doctor Who Online readers can claim a 10% discount on their tickets!  (See below for details.)

This year’s guests are Katy Manning, Deborah Watling, Sophie Aldred, Nicholas Briggs, Mike Tucker, John Leeson – and The Scottish Falsetto Sock Puppet Theatre.

Bedford Who Charity Cons are fairly new on the scene, but they’ve already established a reputation for being fun, relaxed and friendly.  Feedback from both audiences and guests have been excellent.  Sophie Aldred said the last one was a ‘truly lovely day’ with a ‘great atmosphere’; Mike Tucker said it was ‘a lovely, informal event.’  All profits will be donated to Bedford Foodbank. Each month, they provide emergency food for some 500 local children and adults who would otherwise go hungry.

It’s a good line-up.  The day will be a mixture of panel interviews, signings, and the opportunity to chat to guests and to have your photo taken with them.  Not everyone’s familiar with The Scottish Falsetto Sock Puppet Theatre: they’re an award winning comedy act from the Edinburgh Fringe and they’re also very, very funny. Check them out on YouTube.  They’ll be giving us their take on Doctor Who.  (They can be a little sweary but they’ve promised to be suitable for a family audience.  Their Malcolm Tucker as the new Doctor sketch won’t, alas, be part of their performance!)  Mike Tucker’s going to be doing a presentation on how classic-Who icons were adapted and updated for nu-Who; he’s also bringing along a mystery prop which we’re not allowed to say anything about yet, but it’s really exciting!  (As is usual with conventions, guests appear subject to their other work commitments.)

The basic ticket costs are £40 for adults, £20 for 14-18 year olds and full time students, and £15 for under-14s.  If you mention when you book your tickets that you heard about the day through Doctor Who Online, you’ll receive a 10% reduction on the price!  Concessions and family tickets are also available; details are on the convention’s website (see below). Special rates are offered for group bookings, too, though you’ll need to email organiser Simon Danes (see below again!) for the rates.  (This may especially appeal to university and college Doctor Who societies.)  It has to be said that the ticket rates are at the low end for Doctor Who cons, and they’re very good value. The organisers stress they’re not out to fleece you; the tickets give you access to all the events on the day.  Guests will ask a fee for autographs, though, and if you’d like photos with the actors, a charity donation is asked for.

Bedford’s a small town in the south Midlands, about 50 miles north of London (and just 35 minutes from St Pancras). Communications are good:  it’s just off the A1 and M1; good bus and coach links from Oxford and Cambridge and others; direct trains from Brighton, Nottingham, Loughborough and Leicester.

Date, Time & Location:

Saturday 23rd April 2016

10:00am-5:30pm

It will be the first chance the cast have had to reflect on the thrilling conclusion of Peter Capaldi’s debut series in front of 140 lucky fans at a central London location.

BBC Worldwide has 70 pairs of tickets to give away for this exclusive event. Fans will be treated to a special screening followed by a Q&A with members of the cast. This event continues BBC Worldwide’s celebration of a new Doctor in the world’s longest running sci-fi series. Earlier this year, Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman travelled the globe visiting Doctor Who fans in Seoul, Sydney, New York City, Mexico City and Rio de Janeiro and later this month the interactive and immersive attraction in Cardiff Bay – The Doctor Who Experience – will reopen with an updated adventure featuring the Twelfth Doctor.

Event: Doctor Who and Me: 50 Years of Doctor Who Fans

Our friends over at the National Media Museum celebrate fans of Doctor Who with a fantastic new exhibition which will open in the week of the 50th anniversary episode of Doctor Who, where you can discover what it takes to be a ‘super fan’.

Doctor Who’s universal reach and popularity will be on show in abundance at the National Media Museum after hundreds of personal objects were offered by members of the public for the upcoming exhibition celebrating the fans of the programme.

Doctor Who and Me: 50 Years of Doctor Who Fans (23rd November 20139th February 2014) explores what it means to be a devotee of the show in its 50th anniversary year, bringing together items that fans and superfans around the world have collected, created, drawn, assembled and purchased over the last half century.

In July the Museum made a public plea for items and stories for the exhibition, resulting in hundreds of offers including knitted Daleks from Indiana; commemorative coins from New Zealand; mum-made Doctor Who scarves from Tunbridge Wells; TARDIS telephones from Burnley and Whovian Peruvians (woolly hats with Daleks on them) from Huddersfield.

Exhibition curator Toni Booth said:

“Over the past few weeks it has become very apparent that the influence of The Doctor extends into many parts of people’s lives – I have heard about marriage proposals at a Doctor Who exhibition in Blackpool and another fan confessing to me that in life, ‘I often ask myself: WWTDD?’ (What would The Doctor do?). The stories and objects in the exhibition will show just how intertwined into their every day lives the Doctor has become for so many people.”

In addition to a vast array of objects loaned from the public, the exhibition includes fans’ own stories and experiences relating just how much they love Doctor Who and why, how they have organised themselves, produced fanzines, attended conventions around the world, and now make use of the internet and social media to discuss the programme.

Doctor Who and Me: 50 Years of Doctor Who Fans also shines a spotlight on a small group known as ‘superfans’; people for whom time, money (and often living space) is of no concern when it comes to demonstrating how much the programme means to them. Toni added:

“We have visited a number of superfans at home and they have simply incredible collections of Doctor Who-related objects. We hope to give a real insight into this ultra-dedicated few, as well as display the objects that mean the most to them from the hundreds of items they have amassed.”

The Museum would like to thank everyone who has responded to its request for objects, highlighting the delight and comfort that people get from Doctor Who. The Doctor has been there for them for 50 years and looks like he’ll be around for quite some time yet.

Doctor Who is about to face his greatest challenge: his number one fan. Rob Lloyd (The HoundsThe Mutant WayA Study in Scarlet (A Study of...) and Fan Number One) is putting The Doctor on trial.

Not just for Doctor Who fans, it’s a show about obsession and it’s many faces. What have you been obsessed with – a celebrity, a football team, a TV show? For Rob, it’s Doctor Who all the way.

After sell out seasons at the Melbourne and Adelaide Fringe Festivals, The Melbourne and Perth International Comedy Festivals and a full house for Armageddon Expo 2011 (Australia's Premier Science Fiction Convention) Rob Lloyd will be asking the BIG questions in WHO, ME. Rob will be investigating whether Doctor Who (the television show) is guilty of inciting in him a debilitating obsession, or whether it has shaped him into a well-rounded, mentally-sound member of society.

Since 1996 Rob Lloyd has dedicated himself to amassing as much Doctor Who knowledge, as well as videos, DVDs, novels, audios, action figures and assorted paraphernalia as he can afford. With his replica Jon Pertwee era sonic screwdriver in hand and dressed in his 10th Doctor get up he is ready to jump head first into finding out how and why he got here!

Built up through improvisation and storytelling techniques, this one-man show is a personal and fitting tribute to a television icon. Through the course of the show we will see how one TV program can influence a persons actions, behavior and psyche.
